Brent Cummings - RHS Head Football Coach
Navigating Football Season in the Midst of a Pandemic

Brent Cummings took over as Rockford High School's head football coach in 2020.  Cummings followed long time Head Football Coach Ralph Munger.  Munger's teams won three state championships and made the playoffs 25 years in a row.  Cummings had this to say when he took over for Munger last year: "I  welcome the great pressure because that’s what gets you excited,” Cummings said. “Coach Munger did such a great job of building up this program. It’s good pressure, and it’s all part of what coaches do. We are just excited for the opportunity to be honest with you."  Coach Cummings played football at Belding High School and the University of Michigan.  Cummings played under Lloyd Carr at Michigan.   Brent has been coaching in the Rockford district for 16 years. He retained defensive coordinator Randy VanderVeen who served as the interim head coach during the opening weeks of the 2019 season after Munger had emergency bypass surgery.  We look forward to hearing from Coach C about maintaining a football team and competing during a challenging year filled with a pandemic and starts and stops to the the football season.  Source for the info on Coach Cummings: mlive.
